GoAnywhere MFT Enters the Drummond AS2 Certification Queue

Drummond Group logo - Drummond AS2 CertificationThis spring, Linoma Software started the extensive process of reviewing and testing its AS2 automation features against the world's highest standards, as set by the Drummond Group, LLC. Drummond Certified™ products are compliant and interoperable to make sure they truly interface with the systems of customers and partners.

GoAnywhere MFT recently completed the first phase of testing, the results of which confirmed compatibility with RFC 4130.  The testing also verified GoAnywhere's compliance with optional profiles for:

  • FN (Filename Preservation)
  • MA (Multiple Attachments)
  • FN-MA (Filename Preservation with Multiple Attachments)
  • CTE (Chunked Transfer Encoding)
  • SHA2 hash algorithms supporting SHA256, SHA384 and SHA512

GoAnywhere MFT was added to the Drummond AS2 Certification Queue where it will be tested against all AS2 Drummond Certified products. Linoma Software anticipates certification for GoAnywhere MFT this fall.

GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer 5.0 Released with Unified Interface and Advanced Reporting

Linoma Software unveils GoAnywhere MFT (Managed File Transfer), version 5.0 of its GoAnywhere secure file transfer software. The upgrade combines the workflow automation capabilities of Linoma's popular GoAnywhere Director solution with secure file transfer protocol (FTP) features from GoAnywhere Services into a single product. In addition, the merged product adds numerous significant enhancements.

GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer 5.0 Unified Interface DashboardGoAnywhere MFT 5.0 introduces a brand new and customizable browser-based dashboard with more than 20 gadgets providing statistics, graphs, and details of file transfer activity and critical system information. Each administrator has their own personal dashboard, and can arrange informative gadgets to quickly monitor the activity most important to them.

The upgrade delivers advanced Reporting features that include various PDF reports that cover system information and file-transfer activity with details and graphs.  A Security Settings Audit report will analyze a GoAnywhere MFT server's security settings to determine compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) requirements. The report also suggests actions needed to remedy the settings that are non-compliant.

GoAnywhere continues to provide individual audit logs for job activity, triggers, and file transfers (SFTP and FTP/s, HTTP/s, AS2). The product's new version improves logging by sending the individual log events to a global index for faster, system-wide search results.  The new Global Search can be used to quickly find events for a particular file name, a specific user name or a wide variety of 'Google' like search criteria.

Licensing for GoAnywhere MFT has been revamped allowing Linoma to offer a completely free FTP server, including functions to automate FTP transfers. Every edition of GoAnywhere MFT also includes 10 free user accounts for GoDrive, the on-premise enterprise file synchronization and sharing solution.

GoAnywhere MFT now features the ability to use Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (ICAP) servers as Resources and Tasks to integrate antivirus and DLP (data loss prevention) solutions in your workflows. Customers can scan files for sensitive data and viruses to stop harmful file transfers before they are sent.

Existing customers of GoAnywhere will need to register on the GoAnywhere Customer Portal at my.goanywhere.com to request a new license before installing the upgrade.

Updates for GoAnywhere Include Clustering, Disk Quotas, and More

In response to customer requests, especially from larger organizations, Linoma Software has released new enhancements such as clustering and disk quotas for GoAnywhere Director and GoAnywhere Services.  These updates to the GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer suite provide even more robust administrative control, and add automatic failover protection in the event of a server failure.

GoAnywhere Director 4.5.0 adds clustering

The new release of GoAnywhere Director 4.5.0 got a big boost when developers added clustering, a feature they added to GoAnywhere Services earlier this year.  Clustering, also know as "active-active" high availability, means that multiple installations of GoAnywhere Director can be in operation simultaneously, communicating with each other at all times.

GoAnywhere Director Clustering for High Availability

There are several advantages to clustering.  It provides assurance for users and trading partners that if something were to go wrong with one of the servers, the additional installations would automatically take over so availability would not be affected.  It also allows for load balancing, which is especially helpful for organizations with high volumes of file transfers.  Finally, it makes it easy for organizations to manage growth because they can easily incorporate additional servers to their managed file transfer environment.

GoAnywhere Services 3.3.0 adds disk quotas, bandwidth throttling

GoAnywhere Services 3.3.0 offers administrators even greater control over how users interact with their secure FTP servers.

One key enhancement is the addition of disk quotas, which allows admins to determine how much storage space to give to each trading partner and user to better manage storage device resources.

Bandwidth throttling, also new to GoAnywhere Services 3.3.0, lets administrators put limits on the amount of network resources a user can consume when transferring files.  With this feature, controls can be enforced on file uploads, downloads and even on which days or times of day are available to specific users.

With more than 50 updates in this round of enhancements, GoAnywhere continues to respond to the needs of its ever-growing consumer base.  GoAnywhere customers will be notified within their product screens that an update is available, and those who are not yet customers can contact us to get a free demo, or can download a fully-functional free trial.

For more information about the features included in the new releases, check out our news page.

Could your FTP server pass a compliance audit?

data security compliance auditIf an auditor showed up in your office tomorrow and wanted to examine your file transfer security policies and procedures, how confident are you that your organization would earn high marks?

Take this short quiz and find out.

  1. Are you still hosting an outdated SFTP or FTP server in the public area of your network (or DMZ)?
  2. Do trading partners have access to inbound ports within your internal network to drop off or retrieve files?
  3. Are your administrative security controls granular enough to manage user access to specific files, folders and areas of the network?
  4. Can you monitor all file transfer activity and maintain detailed audit logs?
  5. Do employees have easy access to an ad hoc file transfer tool that lets them transfer files of any size, all while generating audit trails?

To find out how auditors expect you answer these questions, don't miss our next webinar:

Get Your FTP Server Into Compliance

New Android Mobile App:GoAnywhere File Transfer at the Tap of a Finger

It used to be that when we left work for the day, we really left work.  With today's mobile culture, however, employees are staying on top of projects and communicating with customers no matter where they are.

Linoma Software found a way to make that a little easier by developing its new GoAnywhere File Transfer mobile application for the Android platform.

Now, GoAnywhere Services customers can securely exchange files with internal servers or trading partners using their mobile phone or tablet.  Trading partners can also download the app and access the customer's web portal to exchange files securely and conveniently.

The GoAnywhere File Transfer mobile app works much like GoAnywhere Services' ad hoc web client, and can also send files through Services' Secure Mail feature.  It is free to download from the Google Play store.

Here are some screenshots of the Android app at work:

GoAnywhere Services customers can also send files right from their phones or tablets using the Secure Mail feature.

GoAnywhere secure mail module

As with the standard GoAnywhere Services Secure Mail module, users can choose from a variety of security settings before they send the secure email.

For more information about the GoAnywhere File Transfer Android app, you may read the official announcement, or contact us via email or by calling 1-800-949-4696. Computing Security Magazine Reviews GoAnywhere

As you probably know, GoAnywhere is not the only managed file transfer product on the market.  A handful of vendors offer their versions of a product to help streamline the file transfer process with features that are designed to keep that data secure.

Many of the people we talk to are researching several companies trying to decide which product will best serve their needs, and naturally, all of the vendors believe theirs is the best fit.

We've been developing resources over the last few years to help define what sets GoAnywhere apart, and as a result, we've built a bigger library of case studies, added a growing collection of customer success videos, and continued to marvel at the growing list of comments that our customers make about our products on LinkedIn.

We've also built an MFT Checklist that provides a list of features and considerations organizations should investigate when talking with competing vendors. The latest evidence we have to support the fact that GoAnywhere is a comprehensive, flexible, well-supported and easy-to-implement solution that can help any industry automate, simplify and encrypt their file transfers is a product review in Computing Security Magazine. GoAnywhere Product ReviewHighlights of the review include these:

"There are plenty of MFT (managed file transfer) solutions on the market, and Linoma's GoAnywhere is one of the most versatile and secure we've seen so far."
"The enhanced file transfer interface is very simple to use, and provides drag-and-drop facilities between the client and their assigned directory on the GoAnywhere host."
"We created a project to securely transfer a large folder, using FTPS from our domain controller to the GoAnywhere host system in minutes."

COMMON 2010 - 50th Anniversary

Linoma Software was happy to be part of COMMON's 50th Anniversary Conference. Linoma has been attending COMMON for 14 years and was happy to see many familiar faces. The weather in Orlando was beautiful and the conference was well-attended. For those of you unfamiliar with COMMON, it is the world's largest community of IBM midrange users providing information, education, and networking among users, IBM, and related third-party solution providers. Linoma continues to develop its well-known IBM i products as well as broaden its scope by enhancing products such as GoAnywhere and Crypto Complete.

During the show, Linoma provided demos as well as conducted a survey. According to our results, 44.1% of companies are storing personal identifiable info (e.g. SSNOs, birth dates) "in the clear," 25% are sending sensitive data unencrypted over the internet, and 48.8% of the companies interviewed are sending unencrypted backups off site. If your company is among the percentage who is not securing sensitive data be sure to contact us at info@linoma.com and we can evaluate which product would most suit your industry needs.

In case you missed it, Debby Gaffney of Fidelity International, was the winner of our prize give-away... an iPAD! Linoma will be attending COMMON, October 4-6, 2010 in San Antonio Texas. We hope to see you there!
