I was looking at the release notes available at

and it looks like they come out pretty fast and furious.
How often do you upgrade?
I just figured out how; Administration, Check for updates.
We were quite far behind and I am stepping through the updates. If you are far behind you can't go directly to the new release. No big deal - I've got other things to stress about.
I'm really looking forward to the ability to restrict uploads and downloads to different directories. This way, if someone does misuse an account they can't make us their store and forward site by uploading and downloading from the same directory.

Updates come out as needed based on identified issues and product updates and enhancements. Do you have to be on the latest greatest version? No, but .. it does help! Especially when you need some added functionality.
The latest version of GA Services 3.1.x will have a News and Tips section at the bottom that will let you know about the latest updates and offerings. This will help you judge on when to go ahead and update or when major upgrades are released.
