With the aim of strengthening its secure information exchange capabilities and continuing to advance its digital transformation strategy, Iberdrola embarked on the evolution of its Managed File Transfer (MFT) platform.
Following a technology evaluation process, the company selected Fortra MFT’s GoAnywhere MFT as the strategic solution to address its security, automation, compliance, and information governance needs. To carry out the project, Iberdola relied on Neverhack as its strategic partner, responsible for expert consulting, solution definition, development of the integration between Iberdrola’s systems and the platform, and coordination of the project from start to finish.

The growing demand for secure information exchange with users, suppliers, partners, and external systems prompted Iberdrola to assess the evolution of its Managed File Transfer capabilities. The organization needed a platform capable of incorporating new security standards, strengthening authentication mechanisms, improving operational traceability, and facilitating the automation of processes associated with information exchange.
In addition, the new solution had to align with Iberdrola’s corporate cloud-first strategy, offering scalability, resilience, and the ability to evolve in response to future business needs and regulatory compliance requirements.
The Challenge
The main challenge was to evolve a widely used corporate platform while ensuring service continuity and minimizing any impact on existing operations.
The new solution had to integrate with established corporate processes, provide a secure experience for both internal and external users, and facilitate a gradual transition toward a more modern, future-ready model. All of this had to be achieved under strict requirements for security, compliance, data governance, and operational control.
Implementation: Project Analysis, Definition, and Design
The project began with an analysis and strategic definition phase in which Iberdrola and Neverhack worked together to identify the functional, technical, and security requirements needed for the evolution of the platform.
During this stage, Neverhack, together with Iberdrola, led the analysis of the different use cases, integration needs, authentication mechanisms, automation processes, and regulatory compliance requirements, defining an architecture aligned with the organization’s technology objectives.
Fortra’s experience in Managed File Transfer solutions and its team’s product knowledge made it possible to validate this architecture and minimize risks from the earliest stages of the project. The close collaboration between Neverhack, Fortra MFT, and Iberdrola was key to ensuring an efficient implementation aligned with business objectives.
The Solution: A Platform Prepared for the Future
Following a technology evaluation process, Iberdrola selected Fortra MFT’s GoAnywhere as the solution that best met its security, automation, integration, and compliance requirements. The implemented platform provides advanced capabilities for secure file transfer, workflow automation, centralized control, multi-factor authentication, monitoring, and traceability, enabling more efficient and secure management of information exchanges.
The solution was deployed under an MFTaaS (Managed File Transfer as a Service) model, aligned with Iberdrola’s Journey to the Cloud strategy, making it possible to take advantage of a modern, scalable, and resilient cloud architecture. Neverhack led the development of the integration between Iberdrola’s corporate systems and the GoAnywhere platform, ensuring compatibility with existing internal processes and standards. As part of the project, Iberdrola also incorporated GoAnywhere’s QuickStart services, a methodology designed to accelerate implementation and ensure efficient adoption of the platform.
Through planning sessions, architectural validation, guided configuration, functional testing, and knowledge transfer, Fortra MFT and Neverhack specialists jointly supported Iberdrola’s teams throughout the implementation process, with Neverhack coordinating the project from start to finish. This approach made it possible to reduce deployment times, apply best practices from the outset, and facilitate the future autonomy of the teams responsible for operating the solution.

Future Project: A Global Vision for the Evolution of MFT
The implementation represents the first phase of a broader vision for the evolution of Managed File Transfer capabilities within the Iberdrola Group.
Following the initial deployment in Spain, the organization will progressively assess extending the model to other strategic markets such as Brazil, the United States, and Scotland, leveraging both the scalability of the platform and the experience gained during this first stage.
This evolution will make it possible to continue strengthening process standardization, information security, and operational efficiency at an international level, consolidating a technology foundation prepared to support the organization’s future growth.
